Police arrests man for killing lover in Ogun

    The Ogun State Police Command arrested a 29-year-old man named Jamiu Salihu, in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, 20-year-old Temitope Elemide on Wednesday, February 28.

    According to reports, the deceased was raped and fatally stabbed on Sunday, February 25 at her family residence in the Bosero community, Olodo, located in the Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

    Speaking on the matter, a source, requesting anonymity, disclosed the details of the incident, “This ugly incident occurred on Sunday when some hoodlums stormed the residence of this girl, raped her, and smashed her head.

    “These hoodlums took advantage of the fact that she was the only one at home to carry out the heinous act.”

    Elemide, who was reportedly getting ready for the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, met an end before she could sit for the test.

    SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday.

    Odutola characterized the incident as a murder case reported to the police on Sunday.

    She clarified that Jamiu Salihu, aged 29, and the boyfriend of the deceased, had been apprehended in connection with the suspected murder.

    “There was a suspected murder report on February 25, from Odeda that they met a lifeless body of Elemide inside the room stabbed with a knife on her head and body.

    “There is one Jamiu Salihu, 29 years old boyfriend, who is suspected to have committed the heinous crime. He was seen coming out from the bush on the said day of the crime,” she said.

    Odutola reported the recovery of one knife, two iron rods, and an Android Tecno phone as exhibits. She mentioned that the body of the deceased had been placed in the morgue.
