The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects following coordinated security operations aimed at tackling armed robbery, drug-related offences and other criminal activities across the state.
The development was announced on Monday in Dutse by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Shi’isu Adam, who said the operations were conducted simultaneously in different locations.
According to him, the exercise led to the arrest of ten suspects, including a wanted armed robbery suspect, while a total of 7,028 illicit substances were recovered. The seized items included rubber solution, dichloromethane and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Adam said operatives attached to the ‘B’ Division in Hadejia also recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle earlier reported stolen from a residence in the Rinde Quarters area of Hadejia town.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect(s) connected with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has since been returned to its rightful owner on bond,” he stated.
In a separate operation, officers from the Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have been rustled from the outskirts of Dunari Quarters.
“The suspects abandoned the cows and escaped to a nearby bush.”
He explained that investigations were ongoing to identify the owner of the animals and track down those responsible for the rustling, as part of broader efforts to curb cattle-related crimes in the area.
The command further disclosed that a wanted armed robbery suspect, Shu’aibu Musa, was arrested in connection with a camel theft, with the stolen animal recovered from his possession. He was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Dutse for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, in Sundimina town, police operatives arrested a suspected phone thief alongside a receiver of stolen mobile phones.
“The suspects stole one Infinix Smart 10, one Tecno Camon 19, one Itel keypad, and ₦20,000 cash, selling the phones for ₦61,000 and the suspects have been arraigned in court, with the investigation completed.
“The public’s support with timely and credible information remains vital in the fight against crime,” Adam said, urging residents in the state to redouble their efforts in this regard.
