The Nigeria Police Force has paraded three suspects who were in the gang of kidnappers that abducted over 100 students of Bethel Baptist School, Kaduna, Daily Trust reports.
The suspects were paraded by the Force Public Relations Officers, Frank Mba, at the headquarters of defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Abuja. There were dressed in military camouflage.
The suspects; Adamu Bello, Isiaku Lawal and Muazu Abubakar, told newsmen that 25 of them abducted the students, adding that they carried out the operation in their desperate bid to get money.
One of them, Abubakar, a 27-year-old suspect, said: “25 of us carried out the operation. We kidnapped 136 students and I got N100,000 share from the money.”
It can be recalled that in July this year, suspected bandits attacked the Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna, kidnapping over 100 children in the process.
Since then, some of the students have been released in batches while others remained in the kidnappers’ den.
Most recently, ten of the abducted children were released on Sunday, September 19th, 2021. The release of the ten students brought the total number of students still with the kidnappers to twenty-one.
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State, Rev. John Hayab who broke the news of the release had prayed that “the bandits will release 21 remaining students soon.”
