He stated that the attack was not the first as another happened the previous week, which claimed 12 lives.
“These attacks are continuous, six people, including the village head, were killed in Nzurya, five people were killed in Asik, while in Konkean, their properties were destroyed, there was no casualty there because the gunmen were resisted by vigilantes,” he added.
A letter, dated July 13, was addressed to the state Governor, Darius Ishaku, and signed by the RCCN’s Assistant General Secretary, Ukwetari Urutsi, stating that the killings and attacks had been predominant in the Takum, Ussa, and Yangto special development areas of the state.
The state Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Kwache Gambo, stated that officers had been on patrol in the axis where the recent attacks took place and investigations were ongoing.
“I enjoin the people living in that community and elsewhere to report any incident to the nearest police station. We will continue to do more to save lives and property,” she added.
