A night club security guard identified simply as Obadiah has been arrested by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command for raping a 13 year old girl at Ojike Street, Mile 1 Diobu in Port Harcourt.
A security source said that 49 year old Obadiah, who works as a security guard at a nightclub in the state capital had asked his victim to buy him snacks as a way of perfecting his plans.
But on her return, the suspect instructed the unsuspecting teenage girl to drop the snacks in his room and as she complied, the suspect locked the door after her, increased the volume on his radio set and rape his victim.
The source explained that a neighbour who suspected some foul play engaged the girl in probing questions as she came out of the room.
The source claimed that after getting the details of what transpired, the neighbour reported the case to the Mile One Police Division.
Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and said that the suspect had been transferred from Mile One Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Port Harcourt, for discreet investigation.
She said that after the conclusion of its investigation, the police would step up efforts to prosecute the suspect if the allegation is found to be true.
