Armed robbery suspects stormed the Eleshin area, Olomo community in Apete, Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State, on Saturday and operated freely.
The suspects, who allegedly stormed the area around 1 a.m., were said to be armed with a Point of Sale (POS) machine, which they allegedly used to transfer money from their victims’ bank accounts.
“The armed robbers got to the area around midnight around 1am,” said one of the residents, who did not want his name printed for security reasons.
They were free to operate. They arrived with a POS machine and transferred an amount of money from one of their victims’ accounts that cannot be specified at this time. They also took an undisclosed sum of money from his wife’s account and fled.
It was learned that the incident had frightened the entire community, with residents now living in constant fear. “They also left with two phones, the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the XS Max.”
The incident was reported to the Apete Divisional Police Headquarters. Adewale Osifeso, the state Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached for comment as of press time on Sunday.
