Officials reported that three individuals, including a child, died in a Russian drone strike on the northeastern city of Sumy, Ukraine, on Tuesday, October 22.
The attack was part of a larger overnight assault on Ukraine, targeting a residential area and vital infrastructure, according to Ihor Kalchenko, head of the regional administration staff.
He shared photos of smoldering debris and damaged houses on his Telegram account.
In a statement, the Ukrainian military said, “air defences had destroyed 42 out of 60 drones launched by Russia over various parts of Ukraine.
“Another 10 were locationally lost.”
Earlier, regional officials reported that a woman was injured in the early hours of Tuesday, October 22, when a Russian drone hit a bus stop in the southern city of Kherson, Ukraine.
Although Russia claims it does not target civilians in its full-scale invasion, which began in February 2022, it frequently launches missiles and drones at populated areas beyond the front lines.
