Speaking during the dialogue organised by Orderpaper advocacy initiative aimed at setting agenda for youth inclusion in parliament, he said it was incumbent on Nigerians to ensure that those occupying the leadership positions of the national Assembly have the wherewithal to discharge their duties effectively. Bagos who represents Jos South/Jos East federal constituency of Plateau state remarked that the quality of those entrusted with the leadership of the national Assembly have a direct bearing with legislations that could impact positivity on the wellbeing of the citizenry. The lawmaker who stressed the need for openness and transparency in the affairs of the national Assembly said it is unfortunate that the duties and responsibilities of members of the national Assembly are often misunderstood and wrongly perceived by Nigerians over the years. He particularly refered to the N120 billion yearly budgetary provision for the national Assembly wrongly perceived as monies meant to be evenly shared by the entire members of the national Assembly. The lawmaker who applauded the periodic assessment of the performance of national Assembly members by the management of Orderpaper media outfit charged participants drawn from various youths groups to prevail on the 10th Assembly to put the issue of youths inclusiveness in the governance of the country on the front burner in the next four years. Head of Youth Alive Foundation, Mr Kingsley Atang believed that the 10th assembly can be a powerful agent of change to the youth if priority is placed on youth-related issues and mitigating the crippling factors in order to secure the economic agility and strength of the youth.
