Security operatives on Wednesday evening, repelled a terrorist attack on the Gaa Fulani community in Iye-Mero, Ikole local government area of Ekiti state.
The operatives also rescued residents who had been abducted during the attack.
The terrorists who stormed the border community between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. also looted valuables, including cash, phones, clothing, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, and jewellery.
Moments after the attack, they were intercepted by the Iye-Mero community security network, which was quickly reinforced by the military personnel stationed in the area.
A tense gun battle ensued, with gunfire echoing across the forested areas linking Ekiti, Kwara, and Kogi states, forcing the terrorists to abandon the abducted residents and retreat into the bush.
All the abducted residents were reportedly rescued unharmed.
