According to Apple, the film, which was directed by Alek Keshishian, will provide a uniquely raw and intimate look at Gomez’s life and “bring her six-year journey into a new light.” A brand-new song that Gomez hinted was “coming soon” is featured in the trailer. The crooner is seen in various phases of her life, including home films from her childhood, performance clips, and incredibly intimate footage of her in the hospital. “Everything that I have gone through, it’s going to be there. I’m just making it my friend now,” Gomez says in the intimate and vulnerable trailer, which dropped on World Mental Health Day in support of global mental health education and awareness. “I know this is the beginning for me.” At one moment, a Gomez without makeup sobs to a friend and discloses, “I’ve worked all my life, ever since I was a young child. I also don’t want to be incredibly well-known. But I am aware that if I am here, I must put that to good use.” Later, she confesses her fears, saying to a friend that she worries she’s “not good enough,” a problem that tormented her as a child. Gomez has been open in recent years about her difficulties with her mental health. Gomez sought mental health care at a facility in 2014 after learning she had lupus, and in 2020 she disclosed that she had also been given a bipolar disorder diagnosis.
