The Senate has confirmed the seven ministers nominated by President Bola Tinubu last week, including Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State Foreign Affairs.
Ojukwu, a former beauty queen, is the widow of the late Biafra leader Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, who died in 2011, 41 years after the Civil War his separatist republic fought against Nigeria.
The other ministers who were also confirmed on Wednesday include Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Development; Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and Muhammadu Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment.
Also confirmed are Idi Muktar Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State, Housing, and Dr Suwaiba Said Ahmad as Minister of State, Education.
The nominees were screened for about five hours before being confirmed by the Senate in Abuja.
Earlier, the Senate, following a motion moved by the leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, suspended its rule to admit the Special Adviser to the President on Senate matters, Basheer Lado, to bring the nominees into the plenary.
The new ministers were nominated last Thursday as President Tinubu reshuffled his cabinet, with some ministers taking up new responsibilities and five fired.
