Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, February 2nd, appointed businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, as the south east co-ordinator of the City Boy Movement (CBM).
Obi Cubana announced the appointment on Tuesday via his instagram page, revealing that Seyi visited his residence on Monday night to formally present him with the appointment letter.
According to the businessman, the visit also provided an opportunity for wide-ranging discussions on national issues and leadership.
He described Seyi as a long-time friend and said the engagement reaffirmed his belief in constructive participation in governance.
Obi Cubana addressed the mixed reactions that have followed his appointment, insisting that meaningful and lasting change is achieved through active engagement rather than remaining on the sidelines.
“Regarding my recent appointment as Southeast coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked.
“My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart.
“Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside, so yes, here we are!
“I am a city boy through and through, inside and out,” he wrote.
He also described Tinubu as a city boy and a man of commerce, stating that inclusive participation across sectors is necessary for Nigeria to achieve its aspirations.
He pledged to carry Nigerians along in his engagements and urged the public to respect differing opinions.
The CBM is a grassroots political organization that supports the policies and leadership of Tinubu, with coordinators across various regions tasked with mobilization and outreach.
