Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Monday, commissioned several projects completed by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo in celebration of the governor’s first year in office.
Representing President Bola Tinubu, Shettima arrived in Kogi State via Dangote Airstrip in Obajana around noon, accompanied by All Progressive Congress, APC, National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje, and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
The delegation received a warm welcome from Governor Ododo, his deputy Joel Oyibo, former governors Yahaya Bello and Idris Wada, as well as commissioners and other government officials.
Governor Ododo led the Vice President and his team to Lokoja Local Government Area, where three road projects were unveiled amidst cheers from the crowd. These included the 9-kilometer Zone 8-Zango Daji-Kaduna Junction road and the 5.5-kilometer Zone 8-Crusher Road.
Other completed projects commissioned include a 350-bed hostel for boys and girls at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, a demonstration farm, two faculty buildings at the university, and several Primary Health Centres, PHCs, across the state.
Speaking during the event, Governor Ododo emphasized that these projects reflect his commitment to improving the welfare of Kogi State residents.
He noted that the developments, spread across the state’s three senatorial districts, were part of his campaign promises to serve as the chief servant of the people. The governor also expressed gratitude to his predecessor for establishing a strong foundation for the state’s growth and progress.
Following the project inaugurations, the Vice President and his entourage visited the Government House for a private meeting with key stakeholders in the state. The day’s events concluded at Muhammadu Buhari Square, where a formal anniversary celebration was held.
