As Muslims across Nigeria celebrated Maulud Nabiyy on Tuesday, a suicide bomber believed to be a member of the Boko Haram sect detonated an explosive device in the heavily populated post office area of Maiduguri, killing at least 7 people and injuring several others. The explosion went off in front of JTF Sector 4, the office of the Joint Task Force.
Shortly after the explosion, angry youths swooped on the campaign office of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff in Maiduguri. The youths struck apparently out of the belief that the former Governor is one of the supporters of the deadly sect.
