Super Eagles, captain William Troost-Ekong, has completed his move to Saudi Arabia Pro League club, Al Khalood.
The club confirmed the switch on Friday, with the Nigeria defender penning a two-year deal with an option for another year for a transfer fee of €1.2m.
Troost-Ekong, 30, is joining the Saudi train from Greek Super League champions, PAOK Thessaloniki, where he spent one year.
The Super Eagles centre-back is Al Khalood’s sixth summer signing as they seek to stay in the top flight after gaining promotion at the end of last season.
Troost-Ekong, who will be 31 on September 1, has had a nomadic career, featuring for clubs in England (Tottenham Hotspur and Watford), Italy (Udinese and Salernitana)), The Netherlands (Groningen and Dordrecht), Belgium (KAA Gent), Norway (Haugesund), Turkey (Bursaspor) and Greece (PAOK).
This is the first time he will be playing for a club outside of Europe.
Born in The Netherlands to a Dutch mother and Nigerian father, Troost-Ekong made his Super Eagles debut in June 2015 and has played 71 times for the national team, scoring seven goals
Troost-Ekong captained Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations in February in Cote d’Ivoire and was voted Player of the Tournament after leading the team to the final, where they lost to the hosts.
