While education and experience may make you eligible to apply for a job, there is a need to develop soft skills that make you employable. As a general rule, employers are willing to teach job-specific skills.
However, they usually want to see that you already have the other soft skills before hiring, because they are much harder to teach.
This is where Great Resources & Opportunities for Work comes in. It is an online platform that helps to develop the employability skills and competence level of students and young graduates in Nigeria.
It aims to address the lack of career advice and pathways available for new entrants into the labor market. With over 15 years in Human Resource practice, the Platform noticed that there is a mismatch in the supply and demand of graduates, with employers reporting that graduates lack the requisite skills and attitude for the labour market.
This disparity is expected to widen further and be harder to resolve as technological disruptions reshape industries and alter the types of jobs available.
