Suspected terrorists have struck again in Kwara State, abducting at least four passengers during an early-morning attack on the Isanlu–Isin–Omu Aran highway.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred on Monday when gunmen laid an ambush on the busy road, a major link between communities in Kwara South and the state capital, Ilorin. The attackers allegedly blocked the route, forcing vehicles to stop before seizing some occupants and taking them away to an undisclosed location.
According to a source with knowledge of the incident, the assailants operated for a period without resistance, heightening fear among road users and nearby communities.
“Bandits are still heavily present in the area and are actively targeting travellers heading towards Ilorin,” the source said.
As of the time of reporting, the Kwara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the attack or confirm steps taken to rescue the abducted travellers.
The latest incident adds to growing security concerns in Kwara State, which has experienced a spike in violent attacks and kidnappings in recent months. Residents have increasingly expressed fear over the safety of major roads and public places.
On November 18, 2025, gunmen stormed a Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, in Eruku during a midweek service, killing three worshippers and abducting 38 people, including the pastor. Although those victims were later released, the frequency of such attacks has continued to raise alarm across the North-Central state.
