Two women from the Wayam community in Sabon-Gari, located in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, were killed after they rejected the sexual advances of terrorists who attacked their village.
The attack, which took place on Tuesday, November 5 also resulted in the deaths of eight other people, with several homes and food supplies set on fire by the terrorists.
The terrorists entered the community on motorcycles, firing shots into the air. Some dismounted to loot homes and set them ablaze.
Five of the residents were killed on the spot, including the two women who rejected to be raped.
They were beheaded and their heads taken away by the terrorists while five others died of bullet shots after the attack.
According to sources from the community, the survivors have fled in fear of further attacks, while the deceased have already been buried.
Terrorist attacks have been escalating along the Wushishi-Tegina-Kontagora road over the past week, following the military’s denial of terrorists’ presence in the Kontagora training camp.
The Commissioner for Homeland Security, retired Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed, stated that the state government is aware of the attacks. He assured that security agencies have been deployed and are actively managing the situation.
