No fewer than 40 farmers have been reportedly killed by terrorists who invaded farms in Rann, Kala-Balge local government area of Borno state.
The insurgents were said to have arrived the community on motorcycles, and attacked the residents with guns and machetes, The Witness reports.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, stated that insurgents linked to a Boko Haram faction were responsible for the attack.
A source stated that some of the farmers were tied up before they were killed.
The victims have been buried on Monday, May 23, however numerous people are still missing, according to the source.
It is worth noting that some suspected Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) members, on May 5, attacked Kautukari, a village in Chibok LGA of the state.
