Terrorists have launched a fresh attack in Niger state, abducting 20 farmers, including pregnant women and children, in Unguwan-Kawo, Erena ward of Shiroro local government area.

The victims, including four pregnant women, were taken around 4 p.m. on Wednesday while harvesting rice on their farms.

The attack comes amid escalating insecurity in the state and follows a similar incident just six days earlier, when more than 200 students, pupils, and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary and Primary School were kidnapped in Papiri, Agwara local government area.

The Niger state police command is yet to officially confirm the latest abduction.
