On Tuesday, a section of the multibillion-naira Blue Rail Mass Transit project in Marina, Lagos State, was destroyed by fire.
According to reports, the fire damaged the section that houses the facility’s generator. There were no fatalities or injuries because the fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters from both the federal and state fire stations before it could spread to other areas.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin. “The fire at Marina started from the generator of the Blue Rail Mass Transit,” he wrote in a text to our correspondent.
He mentioned that police patrol teams and the Fire Service were on the scene, respectively, to control the crowd and put out the fire.
“People are urged to carry out their legal responsibilities and not panic because the situation is under control,” Hundeyin added.
