Terrorists, on Friday, July 22, ambushed men of the guards brigade while on patrol along the Bwari-Kubwa road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The troops of the elite guards brigade, whose primary responsibility is guarding the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, especially the presidential seat of government, were ambushed on Friday evening, July 22.
The ambush is raising fears among residents that the terrorists are laying siege in the Bwari area which houses the Nigerian law school and the headquarters of the Joint and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
A source noted that the terrorists might be planning attacks on the law school and other notable facilities in the area.
Meanwhile, the ambush was forcefully repelled by the brigade of guards troops.
However, three soldiers were injured during the attack ,and they are already being treated at a military hospital within Abuja.
Troops of the guards brigade, in a statement titled ‘Ambush attack against troops of guards brigade,’ said, “On Friday, July 22, troops of guards brigade on routine patrol along Kubwa-Bwari road were ambushed by terrorists, and three soldiers were injured during the attack.
“The soldiers have been evacuated to 7 Gds guards brigade MRS for medical attention. Details on the extent of their injuries remains unknown.
“The ambushed attack which happened within the area of Bwari shows that the terrorists are actually within the location to carry out their plans of attacking the law school and the headquarters of the Joint and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in the area.”
