President Bola Tinubu has authorized the new Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service, HTACOS, for officers and enlisted personnel in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
This approval, shared by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, marks a major move toward enhancing the welfare of soldiers, ratings, and airmen across the country.
The updated HTACOS aims to resolve long-standing issues concerning service conditions and to streamline policies for both officers and enlisted personnel.
“President Tinubu presided over the National Defense Council meeting, approved the new harmonized terms and conditions of service, HTACOS, officers, soldiers /ratings /airmen”, Olusegun wrote on his verified X handle.
Through the adoption of the harmonized framework, the Tinubu administration seeks to improve the morale and operational readiness of Nigeria’s defense forces.
President Tinubu, who led the high-level defense council meeting, reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the armed forces in protecting the nation’s security.
This move is part of his administration’s larger strategy to prioritize welfare reforms and strengthen institutional frameworks.
The Ministry of Defense is expected to release further details on the harmonized terms in the coming days.
Earlier, Tinubu had authorized a salary increase for the Armed Forces.
This was according to Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, in a statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Henshaw Ogubike.
