Tinubu elevates Ibrahim Masari from SSA to SA on political affairs

President Bola Tinubu has elevated Ibrahim Masari from senior special assistant, SSA, to special adviser, SA, on political affairs.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in an official statement.

“As a special adviser, Masari will work alongside Alhaji Yau Darazo, whom Tinubu appointed in July 2023,” Onanuga revealed.

Masari, a long-time associate of the president, was initially appointed in 2023 as SSA on political affairs.

His new role places him higher within the presidential advisory structure, where SAs typically undertake more strategic duties and maintain closer access to the president.

The Katsina-born politician previously served as welfare secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the leadership of former national chairman Adams Oshiomhole.

Within the governing structure of the presidency, the special adviser role ranks above senior special assistant, reflecting broader responsibilities in shaping political strategy.

Masari has remained active within Tinubu’s political network and has been involved in party mobilisation efforts, particularly across the North-West.

His elevation does not require confirmation by the senate, as presidential aides are appointed directly by the President.
