President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday convened a high-level security session with Nigeria’s service chiefs and intelligence heads at the State House in Abuja, introducing renewed directives designed to reinforce the nation’s security framework and intensify the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other growing security challenges.
The closed-door meeting aligns with ongoing efforts by the administration to stabilise vulnerable regions and ensure a peaceful festive season for Nigerians.
The gathering included National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Oluwatosin Ajayi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Undiadeye; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Wahidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke.
Speaking after the meeting, General Oluyede described the session as quite engaging, stating that the President called for heightened efficiency, deeper inter-agency collaboration, and more decisive execution of military and intelligence operations nationwide.
He also assured that citizens should anticipate improved security conditions in the weeks ahead, especially as the country moves toward the yuletide period.
Tuesday’s meeting adds to President Tinubu’s continuing engagements with the nation’s security establishment after declaring a national security emergency to counter rising threats across various parts of Nigeria.
