President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, May 31, met with the special envoy of the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, and vice chairman of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, Peng Qinghua.
The meeting took place barely 72 hours after envoys of the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), and Saudi Arabia, pledged support for the Tinubu-led administration.
Peng, who is the leader of the Chinese delegation to the inauguration ceremony of Tinubu, arrived at the state house around 3:30 pm after which he was ushered into the president’s office.
The delegation included the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun and his deputy.
Although the details of the meeting is yet to be made public, the leaders are expected to discuss possible ways of strengthening the collaboration between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China.
