President Bola Tinubu has ordered security agencies to act swiftly to rescue schoolgirls abducted on Monday from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, Kebbi state.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the president expressed deep sorrow over the abduction and condemned the acts of terrorism that have disrupted education and targeted innocent citizens.
“I am depressed that heartless terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls.
“I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi state,” he said.
He also mourned the deaths of Brig. Gen. Musa Uba and other soldiers who fell in Borno state, describing their loss as tragic and offering prayers for their families.
“As the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty.
“May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes.
“I am fully apprised of the recent uptick in violent extremism in pockets across the country, and I have directed our security agencies to respond with urgency, clarity, and decisive action.
“Those who threaten the safety of our citizens will face the full weight of the Nigerian state,” the president said.
Tinubu urged citizens to share information with armed forces that can save lives and protect children.
