President Bola Tinubu has sworn in the new board of directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new board members was held on Thursday in Abuja.
The development comes weeks after the board was appointed on April 2.
Bayo Ojulari succeeded Mele Kyari as the group chief executive officer (GCEO) of NNPC, while Ahmadu Musa Kida was appointed as the non-executive chairman, replacing Pius Akinyelure.
Adedapo Segun was also confirmed as the company’s chief financial officer (CFO).
In line with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), the president appointed six non-executive directors, representing each geopolitical zone of the country.
The appointees included Bello Rabiu (north-west), Yusuf Usman (north-east), and Babs Omotowa, a former managing director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), from the north-central.
Representing other regions were Austin Avuru (south-south), David Ige (south-west), and Henry Obih (south-east).
Furthermore, Lydia Shehu Jafiya, permanent secretary of the federal ministry of finance, and Aminu Said Ahmed from the ministry of petroleum resources, represented their respective ministries on the new board.
Top government officials present at the swearing-in include Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy; Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation; and Heineken Lokpobiri, minister of state for petroleum resources (oil).
