A massive tornado has killed four people and injured 10 others after it ripped through a Texas town in the United States (US).
The incident occurred on Wednesday night of June 22, 2023, as it developed around 8 pm (local time) near Amarillo before striking Matador town in Texas.
The town of about 600 residents was placed under a tornado warning when the storm descended. Rescue crews dug people out of the rubble and carried some bodies away. A rescue effort to search for those who may be trapped was underway on Thursday morning of June 22, 2023.
Around 10 structures were said to be completely destroyed along with barns and farmland and several 18-wheeler vehicles being overturned during the tornado in Matador.
In the incident, an elderly woman is said to have died in her home as her home was destroyed, leaving her without clothes or medicine.
