Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on Monday, January 5th, arrested two masterminds and six other suspects linked to the bombing at Gamboru market mosque in Adamawa state.
In a statement issued by OPHK spokesperson, Sani Uba, the arrests followed a coordinated cordon-and-search operation carried out in Yan Lemo area of Mubi south local government area, based on intelligence and sustained surveillance of locations connected to the bombing.
Among those apprehended were two key suspects identified as major facilitators in the bombing plot.
Uba said a suspect previously arrested in connection with the incident identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in assembling the improvised explosive device.
Other suspects arrested at the same location were found to have varying levels of involvement in the network.
Items recovered from the suspects’ residence include cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal belongings.
The materials have been taken into custody and are undergoing forensic examination to aid ongoing investigations.
All eight suspects remain in military custody, where they are being interrogated to extract further intelligence before their eventual handover to appropriate investigative agencies.
