Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested four suspected terrorists during a security operation in Sokoto State after intercepting them with materials believed to be used in the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The suspects were apprehended by troops of the 8 Division Garrison at about 4:15 p.m. on July 4 during an operation at Shanawa in Isa Local government area of the state.

According to military sources, the suspects were intercepted while transporting metal bed frames and metal plates  looted from the Bafarawa community.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the recovered items are commonly used as components in the fabrication of IEDs.

The suspects were immediately taken into military custody alongside the recovered materials for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Military authorities said the arrest forms part of ongoing operations to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and prevent the movement of materials that could aid the manufacture of explosive devices in the North-West.

They reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operations aimed at curbing terrorism and improving security across the region.
