Troops of Operation Eastern Sanity (OPES) on Wednesday, March 4th, dismantled an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fabrication site in Orsumoghu, Ihiala local government area of Anambra state.
The facility, located within camp Gbadoanya, was uncovered during a sustained clearance operation targeting the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) terrorists.
Items recovered from the fabrication site included several welding machines, drilling machines, filling machines, car batteries, an electrode welding handle, twelve locally fabricated guns, rifle components, and other IED-related equipment.
The fabrication site was carefully excavated before demolition.
The operation followed a joint clearance mission carried out on March 3rd, in which troops supported by other security agencies and the Nigerian air force swept through the area.
Troops identified and destroyed several terrorist camps, recovering pump-action guns, locally made dane guns, assorted rifle magazines, rifle working parts, belts of ammunition, cutting machines, Biafran currencies, IED-making materials, and musical instruments from the Biafran army band.
A Biafran flag and a Biafran army headquarters flag were also seized and destroyed, with the Nigerian flag subsequently hoisted in their place.
