Troops of the third division, Nigerian army, on Thursday, March 5th, dismantled terrorist hideouts in Mansur village and surrounding settlements within Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state.
The operation was carried out as part of Operation Bugun Karkanda (OPBK), a security initiative launched to restore peace and security in vulnerable communities.
According to the division’s spokesperson, Olumide Olukoya, troops conducted a coordinated offensive into identified flashpoints, dislodging armed terrorists who had attempted to establish a presence in the village.
A subsequent clearance operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle from the fleeing terrorists.
Following the initial gains, troops have secured their positions and launched aggressive fighting patrols alongside confidence-building patrols across Alkaleri local government area.
Olukoya stated that the sustained military presence has disrupted criminal networks, restored public confidence, and created a safer environment for residents to resume their daily socio-economic activities.
He added that stabilisation operations are ongoing, with efforts focused on ensuring the safe return of displaced inhabitants of Mansur village and the entire local government area.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) third division, Folusho Oyinlola, urged troops to maintain operational momentum.
He reaffirmed the division’s commitment to denying terrorists any freedom of action and ensuring lasting peace across its area of responsibility.
