Troops of the Joint Task Force, JTF, Operation Enduring Peace have successfully disrupted criminal activities, neutralised kidnappers, and rescued abducted victims in a series of coordinated operations conducted between December 11 and 13.
The JTF disclosed these developments in a statement on Monday via its Media Information Officer, Samson Zhakom. On December 11, troops from Sector 5 (Sub-Sector 4) carried out an offensive clearance at known kidnappers’ hideouts in Dangoma and Godogodo villages, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
During the operation, three notorious kidnappers were neutralised after exchanging fire with the troops. The wounded suspects fled the scene, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
In Plateau State on December 12, troops of Sector 1 (Sub-Sector 1) intercepted a high-profile bandit, kidnapper, and gunrunner along the Jebbu–Gada Biu road in Bassa LGA. The suspect, linked to multiple kidnappings and armed robberies in Bassa and Jos North LGAs, engaged the troops but was swiftly neutralised.
Recovered items included a pistol, nine rounds of ammunition, a dagger, a mobile phone, and a significant sum of money.
The following day, intelligence about an imminent attack at Gidan-Saki Village, Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna State, prompted a rapid JTF response, forcing the criminals to abandon their mission and flee.
On December 13, JTF personnel deployed at Jengre, Plateau State, executed a well-coordinated ambush following the abduction of four individuals in Rimi Village, Jere District, Bassa LGA. A firefight ensued, resulting in one kidnapper being neutralised and all four victims rescued safely. Recovered weapons included an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and thirteen rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
The rescued victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families. The JTF reiterated its commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal elements, ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens, and dismantling criminal networks across its areas of operation.
