Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), on Friday, June 19, repelled coordinated attacks launched by suspected ISWAP terrorists on military positions in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Joint Task Force demonstrated operational dominance and combat readiness by successfully repelling the attack and launching a counter-offensive against the terrorists in the Buratai axis.
In the early hours of Friday, June 19, ISWAP terrorists launched multiple attacks on troops’ locations at Dusten Kura and Chara Road in Buratai, Biu LGA.
Alert troops, supported by intelligence, promptly detected the incursion and responded with superior firepower in a coordinated air and ground counter-attack.
“The prompt and effective employment of the Air Component of OPHK, particularly Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance and precision strike platforms of the Nigerian Air Force, proved decisive,” Mohammed Goni said.
He added that the air support worked seamlessly with ground forces, disrupting the terrorists’ assault and inflicting heavy casualties, forcing them to flee in disarray.
He further confirmed that no casualties were recorded on the side of the troops, while the terrorists suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment.
He described the development as a reflection of the high level of readiness of OPHK troops and the synergy between air and ground components in sustaining pressure on insurgents.
The Theatre Command reiterated its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action and ensuring the safety of civilians across the North East.
He also urged the public to continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies while remaining vigilant.
OPHK assured that it would sustain aggressive offensive operations to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore lasting peace to the region.
