The presidency has described United States president Donald Trump’s commendation of president Bola Tinubu as further proof of the progress being recorded by the current administration.
The special adviser to the president on policy communications, Daniel Bwala, made the remark on Wednesday, July 22, during an appearance on politics today, while reacting to Trump’s letter to Tinubu.
The letter, dated Monday, July 6, 2026, was made public on Wednesday, July 22, after the presidency released its details.
In the letter, Trump commended Tinubu’s “decisive leadership” in tackling terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria, particularly attacks on Christian communities, and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
Reacting to the development, Bwala said the letter provided additional evidence that the administration’s efforts were yielding results.
“Facts speak for themselves. The letter is further proof of the progress we are making,” he said.
Bwala added that the administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity would not depend on external recognition.
“Does it mean if there was no letter, we will stop? No. Because we are already engaging and communicating with them,” he said.
He likened the letter to encouragement exchanged in a relationship, saying it strengthens existing commitment without changing the administration’s resolve.
