The Turkish government on Thursday pledged its support to Nigeria in the fight against terrorism, following the deadly attacks on February 3 in Kwara State’s Worro and Nuku communities.
The announcement was made through a statement posted by Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official X account.
At least 170 residents were killed by suspected Boko Haram fighters in Kwara States after refusing to accept the extremist group’s ideology.
Expressing sorrow over the tragic loss of life, the Turkish government condemned the attacks and extended condolences to the Nigerian government and the families affected.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by the terrorist attack that took place in Nigeria’s Kwara state.
“We strongly condemn this heinous attack and extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people of Nigeria.
“Türkiye will continue to support Nigeria in its fight against terrorism,” the statement said.
In response to the attacks, President Bola Tinubu on Thursday approved the immediate deployment of an army battalion to the affected areas to carry out counter-offensive operations.
