Twelve-year-old to be prosecuted for attacking two others with acid in US

A twelve-year-old girl is facing charges after allegedly throwing acid on an eleven-year-old girl at a playground in Detroit, USA.

Deaira Summers, the victim suffered second-degree burns on her back, legs, and arms on July 9, 2023 attack.

Deaira was playing with her siblings and cousins at a playground when she was caught in the middle of an argument between the 12-year-old and one of Deaira’s family members.

“I feel like it was the most evil thing you could do to a kid and especially the fact that she was an innocent bystander,” Deaira’s mother said.

Now that she is recovering from her injuries she said she hopes the attacker gets what she deserves saying she wants everyone involved to be held accountable.

The attacker was charged with assault for intent to do great bodily harm and felonious assault.

Two children were injured during the attack and Summers said life for her and her daughter has changed after the incident.

During a preliminary hearing over the weekend, bond for the twelve-year-old teenager was set at $10,000.
