Two have died in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway truck accident The accident happened around 8 pm on Wednesday while the truck was conveying tubers of Yam inward Ogun State.
The driver was at top speed when he lost control and crashed the truck into the concrete barricade along the road.
The truck fell on its side while the tubers of yams spilled into a ditch by the roadside.
Two out of the four men sitting on top of the yams also fell and died instantly as the truck fell on one of them.
However hoodlums rushed to the scene of the incident to guard the yams and mounted a roadblock which later caused heavy gridlock along the axis as motorists spent hours trying to navigate the route.
Ahmad Umar, the Ogun State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident.
He said speed limit violations, brake failure and loss of control were the causes of the incident.
He added that the vehicle was towed away from the road and MTD Isheri police station has kept the crashed vehicle as well as corpses.
