Two persons have died from an explosion in Keffi, Nasarawa state, leading to serious panic.
The explosion occurred on Sunday, May 28, 2023, opposite the General Hospital, on Nasarawa Road, Keffi, in a residential apartment in the area, rented by two occupants, killing them in the process.
The occupants who were hardly around, returned from a journey on Saturday afternoon.
Hours after their arrival, some operatives of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) surrounded the building.
The victims may have detonated explosive vests on grenades after seeing the security operatives.
The corpse of the victims showed that the explosion cut off the trunk and the arms.
Many residents who live close to the area fled when the incident occurred.
However, people who were initially skeptical about the development, trooped to the scene of the incident as early as six o’clock when they noticed heavy presence of security operatives.
The bodies of the victims have been evacuated from the scene to an undisclosed hospital in the area and the scene of the incident has been condoned off by the security operatives after an initial search for evidence.
The public relations officer of the state police command, DSP Ramhan Nansel is yet to confirm this incident.
