Two men, Vincent Ebuka and John Nwachukwu, have been brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing lubricant worth N14 million.
The accused, Ebuka, 24, and Nwachukwu, 25, whose addresses were not given, were being charged with stealing and receiving stolen property.
The Prosecutor, ASP Ikem Uko, said that the defendants committed the offences between November 2021 and May 2023 at Favour Plaza, Aspamda Trade Fair Complex, Lagos state.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant (Ebuka) stole different types of lubricants valued at N14 million where he was working as a sales representative with Great Ade De Young Enterprises, a firm owned by the complainant, Lateef Adeleke.
He said that Nwachukwu received the stolen lubricant from Ebuka, despite being aware that they were stolen.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 411, 287 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
The Chief Magistrate said that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed in a reputable organisation based in Lagos.
The case was adjourned until July 26, for mention.
