The United States (US) embassy, has revealed new changes to the visa interview process for Nigerian travelers via an announcement on Friday, April 11.
The agency stated that starting from Tuesday, April 22, all visa applicants in Abuja and Lagos are required to bring a DS-160 visa application form that includes a confirmation barcode number beginning with ‘AA’ and followed by two zeros.
This code must match the one used to book the appointment online.
The mission cautioned that if the codes do not match, applicants will be denied access to the consular section and will not be allowed to proceed with their visa interview.
The statement read, “Failure to verify the alignment will result in denial of entry into the consular section or the visa interview.
“At least two weeks before your interview, please double-check that the barcode number on your DS-160 form matches the one you used to schedule your appointment.
“You cannot reuse a DS-160 from a previous application.
“If your DS-160 barcode is incorrect, you must log into your AVITS account at least 10 days before your appointment to create a support ticket requesting correction of your barcode number.”
The US mission also urged applicants to confirm that their visa appointments are scheduled at the same location they selected when completing the DS-160 form.
These changes are part of the consulate’s ongoing efforts to streamline and improve the visa application process.
