The United States (US) Customs and Border Protection has stated that green card holders who possess prior criminal records are subject to the revocation of their status and deportation from the US.
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), while confirming this on Tuesday, july 8 stated holding a green card is a privilege, emphasizing that the government retains the right to revoke this status if the holder possesses a past criminal record.
“CBP prides itself on protecting the American people, safeguarding our borders and enhancing the nation’s economic security.
“Under our nation’s laws, our government has the authority to revoke your green card if our laws are broken and abused.
“In addition to immigration removal proceedings, lawful permanent residents presenting at a US port of entry with previous criminal convictions may be subject to mandatory detention.”
