Violence Is Not An Option-Nigerians Plead with one another.

Violence in not an option at this particular period of time. Violence won’t yield any productive result or make any positive change.

From information gathered, today, February 15, there were a lot of violent protests in Oyo, Edo and Delta state. Angry protesters burn down banks and other properties. This has led to lose of lives and properties.

Residents of these affected areas are in fear and are restricted to stay in their houses for time being to reduce the number of casualties. Mr Victor, a resident of Warri, Delta state pleads with his fellow Nigerians “my people please, stop destroying things, stop taking out your anger by burning banks. Destroying things won’t solve any problem.”

Another resident of warri who goes by the name Oghene Tega asks “Now that people are destroying banks, how will they get their money back? This violence will definitely cause more harm,” he added.

A major consequence of the burning down of banks is that some bankers will be out of job till the banks are rebuilt and tension reduces. Bankers themselves are really scared for their lives and might really not want to work anymore. This might now lead to the overall closing down of banks for security purposes.

When this happens, the hardship will be multiplied. No cash( Naira scarcity),buying and selling of Naira in Nigeria, high charges rate from POS owners and banks shutting down completely will be the peak of the problem on ground.

Hence, Nigerians ask other Nigerians “should we be killing ourselves now? We need each other more than ever before to overcome this trying times.

Tayo, an Oyo state resident said “we’ve been blaming top politicians, the president, and CBN governor for what has been going on in the country, but going on the streets to destroy things is not a wise decision. It is basically like destroying our lives by ourselves.”

Nigerians are pleading with one another to remain peaceful and good citizens of the country. Despite the agonizing happenings, they should discourage people from violence and killings. That’s the only way to prosper as a nation.
