Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has once again failed to appear before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, despite being scheduled for an interactive session.
The committee, set up by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and inaugurated on Tuesday, April 15, had initially planned the meeting for Thursday, April 17, but later rescheduled it at Ibas’s request. The session was meant to engage with the Rivers State administrator on developments in the state since he assumed office.
Although Vice Admiral Ibas was in Abuja on the day of the rescheduled session, attending the National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, he did not honour the committee’s invitation.
This marks the second time the administrator has failed to appear before the committee, now chaired by Rep. Julius Ihonvbere. The most recent meeting, held on Thursday, April 24, was again missed by Ibas, with no explanation provided for his absence.
The committee has also not clarified whether a formal invitation was delivered and acknowledged by the Rivers administrator.
In the wake of the repeated no-show, the committee has postponed the session with Vice Admiral Ibas indefinitely.
