Woman flees after setting police officer on fire in Ogun

    A woman identified as Sarah Ayinde is currently on the run after setting her husband, Abidemi Ayinde who is a police officer on fire at the Iperu area of Ogun state on Thursday, December 12.

    The state’s police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, revealed this via a statement on Sunday, December 22.

    She noted that the Abidemi who is a special constable with the Ogun State Police Command was hospitalized as a result of the attack and added that efforts were being made to track down the wife.

    The statement read, “On December 12, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., an attempted murder incident occurred in Iperu.

    “Reports indicate that at No. 20 Igboore Street, Abidemi Ayinde, a male special constable with the police division, was set on fire by his wife, Sarah Ayinde, following a minor dispute.

    “The victim was quickly taken to the Bolawatife Hospital for medical attention and is currently in a stable condition.

    “The suspect, Sarah Ayinde, remains at large and efforts are underway to apprehend her.

    “The division’s crime branch is conducting further investigations into the matter.”

    A male eyewitness who chose to remain anonymous, noted that the incident took place on Thursday, December 12, following a minor argument between the couple.

    He revealed dent that the argument escalated, prompting the wife to set the officer on fire in an act of retaliation.

    The eyewitness said, “There is an incident in Iperu. A police constabulary was set on fire by his wife.

    “They argued, and the wife set him on fire. He is currently hospitalised.”
