Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Enugu Command, on Thursday, August 19, 2021, arrested 14 suspected internet fraudsters at the Monarch axis of Enugu, Enugu State.
The names of the suspects were given as Okoro Anselem, Okoh Chumsdi, Ngwuta Chibuike, Chukwugekwu Michael,Chukwuemeka Victor, Chima Richard, Simon Prosper, Joshua Bomateh and Chukwunonso Henry. Other include Waritimi Fredrick, Ifesinachi valentine, Amadi Michael, Ijere Caleb, Victor Nduka and Joshua Odoemenam.
According to the commission, the suspected fraudsters were arrested based on verified intelligence on their involvement in internet-related scams.
Items recovered from the suspects include two vehicles, several mobile phones, laptops and other incriminating items.
The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, The Street Journal reports that a property located on Miller Road in Kano metropolis said to be owned by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been taken over by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Kwankwaso represented Kano Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019 and was also a two-term governor of the state.
A source familiar with the development told Daily Trust that operatives of the EFCC sealed the property following a petition sent to the commission by some members of the family of Ismaila Gwarzo, a former National Security Adviser.
