Terrorists launched fresh attack in Ihalé and Olle communities, Kabba/Bunu local government area of Kogi state on Friday, December 19, killing two people and abducting several residents.
Residents said the assailants struck both communities simultaneously, moving from house to house and forcing an unspecified number of people into captivity.
The victims who lost their lives were identified as Williams Onimayin and Olowo Memobiayere.
The chairman of Kabba/Bunu local government area, Dare Michael, confirmed the incident in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, John Omof.
He said security agencies had been alerted and were already responding to the situation.
Michael said the local government was working with security operatives to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of those abducted.
He urged residents to remain calm while security efforts continue.
He also expressed sympathy with the families of the deceased and called for peace in the affected communities as authorities intensify efforts to restore normalcy.
