Honorable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, has urged the service chiefs to act swiftly to protect Nigerians amid rising security challenges across the country.
Oyintiloye said the recent killings and abductions of innocent citizens by terrorists in Kwara, Kebbi, Niger, and other states had become unbearable.
He made the call in Osogbo on Sunday, November 23, expressing concern over the growing wave of insecurity nationwide.
The former lawmaker noted that the killing and abduction of worshippers and students had thrown many families into distress and created a sense of widespread insecurity.
“I want to passionately appeal to the service chiefs to do everything within their power to rescue the abducted children and stop the senseless killings by terrorists across the country,” he said.
“Many communities have been rendered desolate due to mass displacement and killings. Parents, families and relatives are devastated by the violence, mass abductions, especially of school children, and continued attacks by terrorists.
“If it requires the service chiefs to change their operational tactics to achieve results, they should do so without hesitation, because Nigeria is bleeding and time is running out.”
Oyintiloye acknowledged the efforts of security agencies but stressed that the recent surge in killings and abductions demands deep concern and a shift in security strategies.
He also called on president Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, to discreetly identify and prosecute individuals sabotaging the efforts of the military in the fight against terrorism.
“The president and the NSA should discreetly identify those sabotaging the military’s efforts to protect Nigerians and prosecute them. Saboteurs within the system must be exposed and removed before further damage is done.
“There are distressing reports pointing to internal sabotage and external collaboration. This must be addressed decisively. The way military operations are being undermined raises serious concern and requires thorough investigation.”
While commending the president for his ongoing efforts to strengthen national security, Oyintiloye expressed confidence that Nigeria has the capacity to win the war against terrorism with the support of all stakeholders.
He urged Nigerians not to lose hope, assuring that the country will overcome its current challenges through unity and cooperation.
