The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), composed of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, on Sunday, March 22, called for sustained investment in intelligence, technology, and security infrastructure to tackle rising insecurity in Nigeria.
The forum met at Eko Signature, Lagos state, to deliberate on national development, democratic stability, and the translation of reforms into tangible improvements for citizens.
Before the meeting, the governors paid a courtesy visit to president Bola Tinubu, discussing key issues including security, economic renewal, social welfare, infrastructure, and cooperative federalism.
They commended the president’s commitment to addressing insecurity through stronger national coordination, international collaboration, and institutional reforms.
The governors urged continued investment in intelligence gathering, border vigilance, technology, and community-based early warning systems, stressing that lasting peace requires not just the force of law but also trust in institutions, opportunities for youth, and a social ethic that rejects violence as a means of grievance.

The forum also highlighted the importance of federal-state partnership, with governors pledging to align state-level initiatives in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, healthcare, education, and social investment with national priorities while preserving state autonomy as laboratories of innovation.
Economic recovery and inclusion featured prominently in the discussions, with members stressing that macroeconomic reforms must translate into reduced hardship, job creation, food affordability, enterprise growth, and improved quality of life.
They noted that global crises, such as the Gulf conflict, could heighten inflationary pressures, and resolved to deepen collaboration on food production, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) support, youth enterprise, and targeted social interventions.
The PGF reaffirmed loyalty to the APC, praising the party’s internal democracy and the orderly conduct of congresses across the country.
The governors emphasized that political success should reinforce disciplined governance and service to citizens, rather than breed complacency.
Concluding the meeting, the forum urged Nigerians to maintain faith in the democratic process and to support efforts aimed at building a safer, fairer, and more prosperous nation.
